. . . along the way I became a painter of landscapes
How was it that I came about to become an artist? I did not come form an artistic family but did come from a family of “doers.”
When I get in front of a canvas I am able to turn my head off from whatever else is going on in life and proceed with painting. I am so blessed to enjoy what I do. I discovered painting could offset a stressful working career.
Twenty years ago I hooked up with a local teacher who had a weekly portrait painting class. I love portrait still to this day but along the way I became a painter of landscapes. Living in Northern Colorado is a great place to study landscape.
My first teacher said to get good, I needed to paint from life whenever possible and then teach. I have taken that advice as gospel. I have taught ongoing classes and workshops for twelve years. In my painting career, teaching and painting go hand in hand.
