. . . attempts to express a soulful, meaningful
message to the viewer of his work
Jon started pursuing sculpture and drawing about 18 years ago. He is largely self-taught, although he has studied oil and pastel painting and sculpture with various teachers in Northern Colorado. Currently, Jon is focusing on pastel painting and 3D sculptures in stone and bronze.
Jon’s artwork is exhibited in the Lincoln Gallery, Loveland and other galleries in Colorado.
Jon’s artistic sensibilities have been influenced primarily by two things: experiencing the Rocky Mountain wilderness and design of 3D computer graphics systems capable of rendering stunning realism. Given these influences one would guess that Jon focuses on painting realistic landscapes. Instead, Jon strives to express the qualities he experiences in nature (e.g. beauty, harmony and a taste of the sublime) in his artwork. Jon finds these illusive and subjective qualities can often best be expressed in art by portraying human and abstract subject matter.
Irregardless of the subject matter portrayed, Jon attempts to express a soulful, meaningfulmessage to the viewer of his work
