About ten years ago, I was looking for an activity to funnel some of my creative energy I had used in a business that we just sold. I joined the Rocky Mountain Bead Society and took a few jewelry making classes. I really enjoyed sharing my new interest and socializing with people having the same interest. Then I took a metals class and I was hooked!
I was intrigued with creating wearable art . . .
. . . with basic materials such as wire, metal and beads. I work mostly with copper, jewelers’ brass and some sterling silver. I love to alter metal in various ways…etching, embossing, texturing, fold forming, wire wrapping and wire weaving.
Adding color to metal is exciting and I use various techniques to make my pieces pop such as torch fire enamel, patinas, and flame painting. I use my hand crafted metal pieces as a focal for bracelets, necklaces and earrings. It is so exciting to learn and explore all the techniques out there to dress up metal and end up with a lovely piece of jewelry. I love sharing my love of jewelry making through teaching classes and talking with customers at shows and at the gallery.
