As an artist and a scientist, Cheryl Gratias has followed a call to observe, experiment, create, and share - - a practice that lies at the heart of both pursuits. Her vivid watercolors embody light, color, energy and life, the same qualities that defined her work as a physicist in laser optics. Cheryl’s work is supported by strong drawing skills honed as a technical illustrator for over a decade. This expertise enables her to seamlessly incorporate lively india ink linework into many of her paintings.
Cheryl’s work has most recently been exhibited in “Historic Windsor: The Past in Color” (Windsor, CO, Oct – Dec 2019) and with Plein Air Artists of Colorado in “Chasing Light 2019” (Fort Collins, CO, Nov 2019). It is her hope that the bright energy and life of these paintings resonate with viewers and can enliven and bring joy to their personal spaces.
