Whether I'm using pastels, watercolor, or a mixed media approach, I try to bring depth and vitality to my images.
I strive to get viewers emotionally involved, their memory released by familiar and distance times. My strong sense of design and abstract structure invites the observer into the painting.
Attention to detail is very important to me, whether I am painting plein air or in my studio. My paintings have to be believable.
It is the freedom of exploration with mixed media that allows me to express my feelings about a subject. Watercolor provides a base of color and shapes. Pastel seems to develop a life of it's own. It is very immediate.
Having grown up and recieving my post graduate degree in Art Education, the small towns and mountians of Colorado have become some of my favorite subjects to paint.
When I am not sharing my knowledge and love for painting with others, I am traveling, learning, and finding wonderful new subjects to fall in love with.
