Learn the techniques of of using pastels and oil paint in a painterly style. After a demonstration, individuals will work on projects with one on one assistance. Mike will cover the systematic process of blocking in, simplifying, value relationships and working with edges. Students will become familiar with the use of color notes for problem solving, developing color and composition. Learn how to select the best photos to work from, plan your painting, build the multiple layers of wax and watercolor and then do the final batiking and the “reveal.”

The class will paint poppies from a photo reference supplied by Dawn.
Dawn Normali expresses what she sees through her heart onto canvas. Dawn’s desire is for her paintings to bring joy and beauty into people’s lives. Her colors are bright and bold. She loves to paint generously (thickly applying oils) to give the painting a more life-like feel. In fact, most people want to touch it! Dawn teaches art with fun and discipline, emphasizing interpretation of an essence or spirit of the subject. The participants can expect to develop skills and confidence in:

No drawing skills needed! Pat will sketch up your animal on an 11" x 14" or 10" x 10" canvas and have it ready to paint when you come to this fun class.
All materials and a customized sketch of your pet on canvas are included in the price.
