Join Dena Peterson as you learn how to paint florals in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. Dena spent 6 months in Gdansk, Poland creating hand-painted scenes for the Academy Award nominated film, Loving Vincent.
“This 2-day workshop is about creating paintings that say more about the emotions we feel toward our subject. Vincent believed in painting what he felt, rather than what he saw. We will capture the feel and energy of flowers, rather than attempting to render them.”
Workshop participants will spend some time learning about Van Gogh’s work and his journey to become one of history’s most unique artists. Dena will demonstrate painting in the style of Van Gogh. She will then help you to paint using a similar approach, with an emphasis on using pure color, line, and texture to bring your work to life.
We will be working with a floral still life; or, feel free to bring in a reference photo of your own flowers. Dena will be working in oils, but acrylics are also welcome.
